To encourages passengers to travel with reusable containers, starting August 20th, SFO will be banning the sale of single use plastic water bottles.
This does not include flavored water or sodas, and unfortunately does exclude those who rely on this form of water because they are currently not given a reasonable and sustainable alternative.
There are numerous locations to fill your water bottle at no cost throughout the airport, but for some, this is still challenge. Considering SFO has plenty of compost-designated receptacles, I think providing a compostable alternative for those who need it would be ideal. For those who don’t need these tools, carry a reusable!
