The 2019 World Wildlife Federation study “No Plastic in Nature: Assessing plastic ingestion from nature to people” has uncovered some frightening information concerning the ubiquitous nature of plastic in our environment.
From the report:
- Globally, humans are ingesting 260 grams of plastic every year.
- Those who exclusively drink from water bottles can ingest an additional 90,000 microplastic particles every year (compared to those who drink exclusively from tap water).
- By 2025, the ocean will contain 1 metrict on of plastic for every 3 metric tons of fish.
